Located in Custer State Park is the must-try Cathedral Spires Trail, which is arguably one of the most iconic in South Dakota.
Spanning 1.6 miles, Cathedral Spires is reported to be lightly trafficked and perfect for most skill levels, including children!
The Cathedral Spires Trail begins at either the Sylvan Lake Trailhead or Little Devils Tower Trailhead and boasts wildlife and pristine forest scenery that is the epitome of the Black Hills.
During your trek, you will find more than just mature trees and boulders, but a bird's eye view of the needles that you will not find anywhere else.

Access to the Cathedral Spires Trail can be found off the Needles Highway — 2.5 miles east of Sylvan Lake — in Custer State Park and costs $20 per vehicle for a 7-day pass.
