Unlike other South Dakota ghost towns, Spokane is not accessible by car, so come prepared to walk 2 miles out and back, with a strong suggestion to come before nightfall.

- Sica Hollow State Park (44950 Park Road, Sisseton, SD) The ghost stories and legends swirling around this haunted forest come from a Bigfoot-type of man. In the 1970s, this creature reportedly kidnapped and killed a handful of hikers. And earlier, other legends involve the Ancient Native American tribes, some of whom have claimed to see the springs at Sica Hollow gushing with blood. Folks have mentioned hearing the sound of drums and seeing mysterious figures.
- Spirit Mound (31148 S.D. State Route 19, Vermillion, SD): This historic ground is one of the few remaining places where Lewis and Clark stood, making it a huge tourist attraction. But the 320-acre holds a dark secret. During their stop, the explorers met with the Wičhíyena Sioux, who told them about demonic 18-inch-tall men with large heads terrorizing the surrounding area. Lewis and Clark searched for these little men but to no avail. And ever since folks continue the search.
- Spook Road (Sioux Falls suburb, Brandon, SD) The road has notoriously become one of the scariest places, especially after dark, with sightings of ghostly apparitions on the road or hanging from trees. And speaking of hanging, some folks say that people were hung from the bridges, and have spotted eyes peering from them in the dark. Are we brave enough to drive through this forested tunnel of trees on this haunted winding road?
- Mount Marty University (1105 W. Eighth St. Yankton, SD): This small, private, Catholic, liberal arts university was established in 1936. While the campus is beautiful, some dark stories accompany the place. One involves a construction worker who fell to his death while building Bede Hall. It seems he never left and still haunts the structure. Some reports from staff include hearing footsteps at night and seeing unexplained shadows in the halls. Another spirit is said to haunt Whitby Hall by moaning and appearing then disappearing to people. Other spirits from the dorms are allegedly students who have sadly committed suicide.
