When people think of South Dakota, the last thing that comes to mind is most likely tropical beaches, so tourists and recent transplants are always pleasantly surprised to find that we have more coastline than Florida and tons of beautiful beaches to boot. If the weather is warm and you want a Caribbean-like beach without the Caribbean-like price tag, we recommend visiting this hidden South Dakota beach with super clear waters:
Literally located along Easy Street in Huron is Ravine Lake Park and its beautiful swim beach!
Situated on 32 acres, Ravine Lake Park is about as picturesque as it gets thanks to not only its super-clear water, but surrounding trails and lush trees.
Have kids (or maybe you're just a big kid at heart)? Bring buckets and scoops, as you can build countless sandcastles along the shore!
In addition to the super soft sand, Ravine Lake Park also offers a number of water sports, including tubing, kayaking, paddle boats, and more.
Don't own any equipment? No problem, as you can rent tubes, kayaks, and paddle boats for just $7 an hour!
As if your beach day couldn't get any better, wait until you try a scoop (or 5!) from the nearby Putters & Scoops, which serves a delicious assortment of sandwiches and hot dogs, PLUS cold treats!
Homemade pie a la mode? Don't mind if we do!
There is no better way to cool off on the hot sand than sipping a Putter & Scoops smoothie!
Once you're finished splashing around, you can also golf around Putters & Scoops for only $4.25 per 18 holes.
Best beach day ever? We thought so, too.
South Dakota or the Caribbean? You tell us.
Ravine Lake Park is open every day. Admission to the park and beach are free.
Address: 800 Easy Street, Huron, SD 57350
