Fall is in the air all around us…isn’t it lovely?! If you cannot get enough scarves, pumpkin spice, and everything nice, you are going to want to visit these seven amazing places in South Dakota where the leaves are simply vibrant:
1. Spearfish Canyon (Spearfish)
Do you think this famous canyon (and these famous falls) are amazing in the summer? Think again, as they manage to come to life even more in the fall with its surrounding reds, yellows, and oranges.
2. Deadwood
One of the most historic towns in SoDak is also one of the most beautiful, thanks to Deadwood's Black Hills location and its ample trees and lush forest setting.
3. Pierre
You know Pierre as being the capital city and for having 14,000 of the friendliest residents, but did you also know that the town that is "On The River-On The Move" is also one of the best places for fall foliage? (If you need more proof than just this colorful photo, go see it for yourself... you won't be disappointed!)
4. Pinnacles Overlook (Wall)
South Dakota's Pinnacles Overlook is also the pinnacle of fall, thanks to the vastness of the dramatic Badlands mixed with the vibrantly-colored landscape.
5. Mount Rushmore (Keystone)
C'mon... you knew we couldn't do a "Best of South Dakota" list without paying homage to THE Mount Rushmore! Like Deadwood, Mount Rushmore is nestled away in the Black Hills, which pretty much guarantees that they will have the best colors in the entire state.
6. Falls Park (Sioux Falls)
Like Spearfish Canyon, the incredible Falls Park somehow manages to become even more beautiful come autumn. (I know this picture may not seem like much, but it is truly something that everyone NEEDS to see and experience in person!)
7. Custer State Park (Custer)
Last but certainly not least is Custer State Park; South Dakota's first and largest state park that not only boasts a fascinating history (after all, it was named after George Armstrong Custer), but 71,000 acres of bright trees, shrubs, and prairie grasslands.
