South Dakota is famous for a lot of different things, but it is safe to say that it is not known for its boardwalks (a la New Jersey). Despite the fact that they are hard to come by, we do have a few of these wooden walkways, including the Fossil Exhibit Trail that leads to incredibly scenic views:
Nestled away in Badlands National Park, the Fossil Exhibit Trail is a 1/4-mile out-and-back trail that is arguably one of the most unique in South Dakota.
Deemed as a hike that is both easy and perfect for families, the Fossil Exhibit Trail is situated atop a wooden boardwalk, making for a path that is smooth and easy to maneuver.
In addition to the unique boardwalk trail, Fossil Exhibit is also a must-visit for its jaw-dropping surroundings, which are comprised of the rocky and colorful Badlands that draw in outdoor enthusiasts from both near and far.
As the name implies, the Fossil Exhibit Trail is also home to - you guessed it - fossils, all of which are replicas of dinosaurs and other ancient creatures that once roamed the area.
