While a watering hole is usually defined as a “waterhole from which animals regularly drink,” it is also informally used to describe a down-home “tavern or bar.” While South Dakota is full of the latter, there is one that stands out to us as being the best in SoDak, and it can only be found in this small and little-known town:
Located in Lyman County is the small town of Presho, which is home to an estimated 500 residents, lots of locally-owned shops, and...
...the incredible Hutch's Motel Cafe & Lounge!
Family-owned and operated since 1967, Hutch's has become an area institution, thanks in part to its down-home atmosphere and super friendly staff.
Like the title of this article suggests, Hutch's is the epitome of a watering hole, as their lounge serves a large selection of your favorite beer, wine, and wells.
In addition to your favorite drinks, Hutch's also serves up some of the most delicious food you've ever tasted, including made-to-order steaks and burgers...
...all-day breakfast plates...
...and chicken fried steak the size of a small child.
Did you eat or drink a bit too much during your visit? No problem, as Hutch's is also home to motel rooms that are pristinely clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced.
Hutch's Motel, Cafe & Lounge is located at 404 East Hwy 16 in Presho and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
