When it comes to cold-weather adventures, there is nothing better than skiing down a steep and snowy hill. While the Mount Rushmore State is generally not considered when people think of epic slopes, it is, indeed, a great place to ski or snowboard, thanks to such fun and family-friendly attractions as the Terry Peak Ski Area:
Located in Lead, the Terry Peak Ski Area is South Dakota's premier destination for snowsports... and for a good reason.
With a summit sitting at a whopping 7,100-feet, Terry Peak is billed as being the highest lift service between the Rockies and the Alps, making it not only a fun place to ski and snowboard but also a unique one!
Featuring dozens of slopes, there is a hill for every age and preference, beginning with the short and sweet Snowstorm and ending with the heart-pounding (and aptly-named) Inferno and Little Hope.
In addition to the standard trails, Terry Peak also houses a Terrain Park complete with a Half Pipe, jumps, and rails, plus a ski and snowboarding school (pictured).
