Do you have a family or plan to start one soon? If so, you may be on the prowl for a great place to live! Needless to say, small towns are always a safe bet in terms of raising a family, but if you prefer to go the city route, there is no place better than South Dakota’s very own Sioux Falls:
Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is officially one of the 20 best places to raise a family, as per WalletHub's recently published Best & Worst Places to Raise a Family.
How did WalletHub come up with its findings? The financial site compared 180 cities based on "48 key metrics that consider essential family dynamics, such as the cost of housing, the quality of local school and health-care systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation," making Sioux Falls a no-brainer.
Which categories did Sioux Falls score highest in? According to WalletHub, the SoDak city scored 15th overall in Affordability (cost of living, housing affordability, and wallet wellness), 29th in Socioeconomics (wealth gap, foreclosures, poverty rate, etc.), and 30th in Education and Child Care (school system quality, graduation rates, quality daycare, etc.).
While Sioux Falls scored high in some aspects, WalletHub found that it lacks in others, including Health and Safety (air quality, access to healthy food, hospital rating, etc.) and Family Fun (playgrounds per capita, number of attractions, ideal weather, etc.).
In addition to Sioux Falls, WalletHub also named Overland Park, Kansas (#1), Plano, Texas (#4), and Boise, Idaho (#15, pictured) as some of the best cities to raise a family.
