When it comes to museums, landmarks, and history, there is no better place to be than South Dakota, which is home to some of the most famous places in America! If you love art or dream of becoming more cultured, however, there is only one place to go, which is the world-renowned South Dakota Art Museum:
Located in Brookings, the South Dakota Art Museum is home to an incredible 7,000+ objects and is continuously named one of the top 25 museums and galleries in the U.S. by American Art Awards.
Opened in 1970, the South Dakota Art Museum is housed on the campus of South Dakota State University and boasts seven galleries with an average of 15 new exhibits each year.
While some of the exhibits are either traveling or temporary, the Art Museum also houses several permanent collections that consist of everything from Native American pottery to paintings, works on paper, and textiles.
As of this publication, temporary exhibits that are currently being shown at the South Dakota Art Museum include Articles of a Treaty, Harvey Dunn: Imagining Others, and Abstraction (pictured).
