Hello! I was born and raised in Toronto, lived in Miami for a decade, attended the Miami International University of Art & Design, and have resided in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, for the past 15+ years. I enjoy traveling all over the United States, Canada, and Europe - though I have a great appreciation and love for the southeastern parts of the US in particular. My past expertise lay in hospitality in the restaurant and retail world. Aside from writing, I now run an Airbnb in my home and sling vintage, so I'd like to think this all helps me with what it takes to find the best restaurants, lodging, and fun things to do and see in your state. I am an avid reader, love exploring the arts, and discovering the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Nice to meet you!
Looking for a warm location to escape the frosty weather? Look no further than Murrells Inlet, the perfect winter getaway in South Carolina. Located just 13 miles from Myrtle Beach, you’ll find no shortage of fun things to do and see in this quaint fishing village. Whether you’re looking to get out on the water or stroll along the boardwalk, Murrells Inlet has something for everyone.
Shake off the frost and enjoy one of Murrells Inlet's best attractions, the MarshWalk. The MarshWalk is a half-mile wooden boardwalk situated along the saltwater waterways in the heart of Murrells Inlet. Enjoy all the activities MarshWalk has to offer, like live music, water sports, sightseeing tours, and waterfront dining.
Speaking of waterfront dining, Murrells Inlet is also known as the seafood capital of South Carolina, so don't miss out on the many options from the restaurants that line the boardwalk.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Murrells Inlet during the winter months of November and December, check out the MarshWalk's Wonderland of Lights Celebration. This spectacular walk-through experience features thousands of lights themed with holiday songs. A 40-foot LED Christmas tree at the end of the pier makes for the perfect backdrop for all your holiday photos.
Another attraction to visit during your winter getaway is Brookgreen Gardens. Brookgreen Gardens is a large sculpture garden and wildlife preserve. The property includes several themed gardens, including a sculpture garden, the Lowcountry Zoo, and nature reserves with trails going through different ecosystems.
And during November and December, don't miss out on Brookgreen Gardens' Night of a Thousand Candles, where the park comes to life under the glow of over 2,700 hand-lit candles and millions of twinkling lights. Walk through the paths and enjoy a warm cup of cider while you listen to holiday music, a must-see event!
What winter break is complete without a trip to the ocean? While staying in Murrells Inlet, visit Huntington Beach State Park. Huntington Beach State Park offers visitors a natural environment with outstanding examples of the state's coastline and habitats.
