The Water Lantern Festival In South Carolina That’s A Night Of Pure Magic
A magical night of hope and togetherness is quickly approaching at the end of this month. On the afternoon and evening of June 29, 2019, thousands of people will gather to light up the water in a gorgeous illuminated display of personally decorated water lanterns that will be cast into a lake at dusk. Each beautifully decorated lantern will be aglow with a light to carry wishes, intentions, and messages of hope into the night. It’s one of the most heartfelt and touching festivals ever.
The Water Lantern Festival takes place June 29, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Grand Park in Myrtle Beach adjacent to The Market Common. Spend the afternoon enjoying all that The Market Common has to offer, then cross to the other side of the lake to Grand Park for the start of the festivities at 5:30 p.m. Each adult ticket includes: entry into the festival, a floating lantern, one marker (feel free to bring more colored markers of your own), a commemorative bag, and a wristband. (As mentioned, part of the cost of admission includes the cost of making sure each lantern is retrieved after the event ends.)
Tickets, if purchased by today (6/5) are $25; from 6/6 through 6/15, tickets are $30. (Remember, the ticket price includes your very own lantern to decorate and launch during the festival.) Purchase online the day before the event and you’ll still save with a cost of $35. At the gate on event day, an adult ticket is $40. Youth tickets (ages 8-14) are $12. Children 0-7 are free.
