Whether it’s the dead of winter (all two weeks of it) or a dog day in summer, South Carolina’s three year-round indoor ice rinks provide hours and hours of entertainment across the state. Who remembers the first indoor ice rink in the Palmetto State? What a difference it made in the summer to duck into someplace where jeans and a jacket were a must for temps approaching the triple digits. That one rink is now in the company of two others found in entirely different parts of the state. Together these three ice rinks are at the ready to cool down a hot summer day or heat up a frosty winter afternoon.

2. Pavilion Recreation Complex - Taylors
Pavilion Recreation Complex, 400 Scottswood Rd, Taylors, SC 29687, USA
Located at the Greenville Rec Pavilion Recreation Complex in Taylors, the ice rink provides a venue for hockey players and fans, and for Curling events - all the while making time for public skating. New to the sport? There's no shame in renting a skating walker to assist! Still shy? Bring a toddler to skate with you and the walker will look like it's just for them! Learn more, including public skate times and admission and rentals costs on the Greenville Rec website.
It's hard to believe South Carolina's first indoor ice rink, Carolina Ice Palace, has been open for 25 years! The facility has not one - but two NHL-sized ice rinks and hosts a variety of hockey activities including games, leagues, and hockey camps for kids. Public skating is almost always available and while it's a great activity in the winter it's also a "cool" experience in the summer. Get more info, including public skate times and rental fees, by visiting Carolina Ice Palace on the web.
