South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Renowned novelist Robert Louis Stevenson said, “It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air, that emanation from old trees that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.” Do you have a weary spirit? Life can sometimes just wear you down! Or maybe you’re just looking for something new and different to experience. Take a look at the amazing treehouse resort in South Carolina where you can get away for a bit of renewal and relaxation.
Treesort is located in the tiny town of Clarks Hill, which has a population of only 195 as of 2020. It's in McCormick County, which is a part of the Upstate region of the state.
There are a total of four luxury treehouses, so it's a smaller, more intimate setting. It's a neat place for multiple extended family units to come together with each having their own space.
The resort is co-owned and operated by an Army Veteran and his wife and an active duty Army Soldier/Green Beret and his wife. A 10% military and first responders discount is available to those who have or are currently serving.
There are recreational attractions nearby as well, including kayaking, mountain biking, Lake Strom Thurmond, also known as Clarks Hill Lake, and an opportunity for fishing with Striper Bass Fishing Guide, Captain Dave Willard.
Captain Dave is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic and a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Professional Guide. He has been guiding since 1985 and enjoys taking families out for a beautiful day on Lake Thurmond.
