South Carolina is filled with great restaurants from one end of the state to the other. Most restaurants will pick a type of food to serve, like Chinese, or Mexican, or just plain American fare. Most themed restaurants do a great job of embedding their theme into their menus. And some establishments take it a step further and carry the theme of their cuisine into their decor.
Here are some great themed restaurants in the Palmetto State.
1. Bacon Bros. Public House - 3620 Pelham Rd, Greenville, SC
That's right...it's a bacon restaurant. Bacon Bros.' made-from-scratch menu features a burger that combines ground bacon with ground beef - and then some! Even some of the desserts have bacon in them. Bacon Bros in Greenville is devine swine!
2. Poe's Tavern - 2210 Middle St, Sullivan's Island, SC
Poe's Tavern celebrates the literary icon that once roamed Sullivan's Island. The menu includes burgers (among a slew of other things) that are named after Poe's works.
3. Pirates Voyage - 8901 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC
Bring the kids to Pirates Voyage to join Captain Blackbeard and crew for dinner and a show.
4. The Chemist - 300 9th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC
The Chemist serves up craft beer and concocts their own "craft cocktails." Some of them are served up in containers you might find in a lab. The servers wear lab coats and the food looks amazing.
5. Flight Deck Restaurant - 109A Old Chapin Rd, Lexington, SC
The Flight Deck is as versatile as it is unique. Here you can order authentic Greek, American or set your sights on the blue plate special. It's all served up in an Aviation themed venue.
6. The Whistle Stop at the American - 109 S. Main St, Travelers Rest, SC
The family-owned Whistle Stop at the American is a landmark in T.R. Its name is derived from the fact that it was stop on the rail where the conductor would blow his whistle to alert passengers. Renovated and expanded in 2013, the restaurant still maintains a rail theme and even uses many of the items from the original design.
7. Pitt Street Pharmacy - Mount Pleasant, SC
There are a few pharmacies in South Carolina that have old-fashioned soda fountains. Pitt Street Pharmacy's soda fountain has been around so long (75 years) there are likely members of the Town Council who went here as children. Back in those days kids in town had good old-fashioned "tabs" their parents would regularly stop in and pay.
8. Dick's Last Resort - 4700 Highway 17 S, Myrtle Beach SC
At Dick's Last Resort the theme is fun through rudeness. You read that correctly. If your server is being rude it means they LIKE you. Be rude back.
9. Quaker Steak and Lube - 941 Spears Creek Ct, Columbia, SC
This racing themed sports bar and restaurant is what's on tap in Columbia. You'll also find giant tv screens, hot wings and beer.
10. Parlor Deluxe - 207A St Philip St, Charleston, SC
Waffles, Hot Dogs and Ice Cream are the theme of this retro-chic spot in Charleston's trendy downtown Cannonborough neighborhood. This may also be the one spot in the Lowcountry where you can get a Rootbeer Float without the "root."
11. The Smokin Pig - 6630 Clemson Blvd, Pendleton, SC
The Smokin Pig takes BBQ to an entirely different level with barn decor and even a comfy outdoor fire pit in their waiting area.
Themed restaurants can make dining fun for the whole family. What’s your favorite themed restaurant in South Carolina?
