Dining out in South Carolina can take many twist and turns, from ending up at a straight-laced upscale establishment to a quirky place with welcoming arms and a casual atmosphere – like the restaurant below. It’s an eatery like few others in the Palmetto State and not only will you remember the delicious food and friendly staff, you’re certain to remember the unusual (but nice) atmosphere.
The Drake House is a house turned restaurant and, in some ways, almost appears as though a family just up and moved out one day and left all their belongings.
(The restroom feels like you're visiting your grandmother, right down to the claw-foot tub!) For certain, the restaurant is quirky, but the whole experience is awesome.
It's easy to see why! From Southern fried chicken, to BBQ, squash casserole, fried okra, sweet potatoes and more, it's always loaded with delicious favorites you grew up eating if you're from South Carolina.
The Drake House is located at 511 N Howard Ave., Landrum, SC 29356. It’s open for lunch six days a week beginning at 11:00 a.m. (and closed on Monday). It closes at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, see their Facebook page.
