South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
Greenville is one of the best places in South Carolina to experience the holiday season. From special events such as the Night of Lights and the Festival of Trees to Ice on Main, Main Street Greenville at Christmas is beautiful and magical. And this year, the city offers a new event for the community to enjoy that makes the season even brighter. The Greenville Holiday Gingerbread Exhibit is a fun addition to the many Christmas activities in South Carolina.
The Exhibit is a daily recurring event happening through December 26, located in downtown Greenville in the hotel lobby of the Residence Inn / Springhill Suites at 200 East Washington Street.
Local chefs and restaurants created the festive gingerbread structures on display. Soby’s is a popular downtown Greenville restaurant located in a renovated century-old building, depicted in its entry for the exhibit.
As you stroll through the Exhibit, you can sample delicious seasonal food and drink specials from Oak & Honey during restaurant hours (3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 3 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday).
You could have lunch or dinner at the restaurant before or after viewing the Exhibit. Oak & Honey is located in the hotel and offers a rotating food and drink menu featuring seasonal dishes and ingredients, as well as home-made desserts.
Entries were also accepted for displays to compete in an amateur contest. There were a limited number of entry spots available and those have now all been filled.
It’s fun to move from one display to the next and see all of the different ideas that were brought to life. Check out a short video below!
If you don’t live in Greenville but happen to be traveling through, the Residence Inn/SpringHill Suites hotel is a quick stop off the interstate if you want to see the exhibit and cast your vote! Follow the VisitGreenville SC Facebook page where the winner announcement will be made and for additional information on the event and visiting Greenville.
