South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
There’s so much to love about summer, especially in the beautiful state of South Carolina. With kids being out of school, it’s the perfect time for completing a summer bucket list of fun adventures, some of which are best done in the summer months. One such activity, in fact, is even exclusive to the season. Come along with us today as we explore a spot that’s one of the best places to experience the beauty of summer wildflowers in South Carolina.
Located in South Carolina’s upstate small town of Landrum, The Blue Wall Preserve is a protected area of about 20,000 acres within the Blue Ridge Escarpment of the Southern Appalachian mountains. Rich in natural plant life, it’s the perfect place to enjoy summer wildflowers.
There are several trails at The Blue Wall Preserve, including Twin Ponds Trail, part of the Palmetto Trail, and a waterfall trail, covering a total of over 10 miles.
Along with the South Carolina summer wildflowers, there’s beautiful scenery to take in. No matter your age, you feel like you could get lost in thought for a while here, as if time stands still. What a peaceful place!
As you walk along enjoying the beautiful wildflowers, be mindful and watch your step, as snakes also live within this habitat. Some visitors have come across copperheads while exploring.
