Reconnecting with Mother Nature on a hike in the Palmetto State doesn’t always have to mean conquering a mountain or traveling a long distance to reach the destination, or the overlook, or whatever the end point of the trail may be. It’s entirely possible to take a leisurely walk under the canopy of a shady forest on a trail that isn’t overly difficult – and still feel accomplished. Take a peek below; you may love this short waterfall hike in South Carolina.
The trail to Station Cove Falls (Walhalla, SC) is rated as easy.
And the payoff at the end of the hike is a pretty waterfall that stands six stories tall. At times, it gushes over a tall stack of rock ledges; other times it gracefully rolls over in delicate ribbons. It's worth it to hike the trail twice (once after a rain and once when it hasn't rained for a while) just to see the two different sides of Station Cove Falls.
The trail for this waterfall hike is located within the modest 210 acres that make up Oconee Station State Historic Site, which is a part of South Carolina State Parks.
The historic site was once a military compound before transitioning into a trading post. Today, it is comprised of some historic structures and a scenic nature trail that leads straight to Station Cove Falls.

If you have a doubt, then you may want to wait and hike this path when it has been a while since the last rainfall.
Once you arrive, find an old log where you can sit and admire this pretty "little" waterfall in the woods. Standing at 60-feet high, Station Cove Falls is a hidden treasure everyone should see at least once.
