From Highway 17, turn on to Bennett’s Point Road and go 13 miles. The entrance to Bear Island is one mile ahead after crossing the Ashepoo River.

For me, South Carolina offers the best of two different worlds: exploring nature – amongst eagles and alligators and more, and discovering an impressive list of historic towns – both large and small.
