Here’s a different spot to have dinner: the dining room of a culinary institute where up and coming chefs in training run the show. During school sessions, the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach trains up and coming chefs on cooking techniques for foods from around the world and they train in the Fowler Dining Room at the Horry Georgetown Technical College – Grand Strand Campus.
Each session, students from around the country train in the art of fine dining, buffet, and cafe service as well as the business of running a restaurant.
Here's how it works: Go online to make a dinner reservation for seating between 6 and 7:45 p.m. for $40. This link also tells you the Cuisine Du Jour. Pick an Italian, French, or other themed night that fits your tastes and schedule.
The International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach also trains pastry chefs and bakers! Visit Layers Bakery at Horry Georgetown Technical College - Grand Strand Campus to discover amazing pastries.
The bakery also serves up fresh baked breads, cookies, soups, salads, and sandwiches. It's open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located at 920 Crabtree Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
