I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
There sure are some creative cafes, restaurants, and bars that have popped up around the Palmetto State over the years. One such place is Owlbear Cafe. Why? Well, not only can you grab a drink, whether it’s coffee, tea, craft beer, or wine, but you can play board games! If that sounds like fun to you, then you have to visit Owlbear Cafe, a board game cafe in South Carolina.
It all started in 2019 when owners Marshall and Sarah wanted to share their passion for drinks, delicious food, and board games. So, naturally, they opened up their own board game cafe in Mount Pleasant.
Owlbear Cafe has become a local favorite since its opening. While you can order your food and drinks to go, you might be missing out if you don't stay for a game.
Just look at the selection of games you can find at the first board game cafe in the Charleston area! From classics like Risk and Backgammon to more modern games like Bananagram and Ticket to Ride, there's something here for everyone.
The drinks here at Owlbear are nothing short of excellent. You can choose from a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages like iced matcha lemonade or Apple Chai-der.
And, of course, there's craft beer, wine, and mimosas you can have while you play a game. Sounds like the perfect place for a date or a meetup with friends, doesn't it?
Serving both breakfast and lunch, you'll find a variety of classic items made with local ingredients whenever possible. There are breakfast sandwiches, waffles, sandwiches, gourmet toasts, soups, salads, acai bowls, and even items for the kiddos.
Have you been to this wonderful board game cafe in South Carolina yet? If not, you have to go! To learn more, visit the Owlbear Cafe website and follow the Facebook page for any updates.
