South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
Most of us have our regular daily routines that may rarely change. Day in and day out, we take the same routes to and from the places we frequent. And when you discover a place hidden away somewhere you least expected it and that you have been passing for years without realizing what you were missing, it makes you wonder just how often something great has been hiding right under your nose! This is exactly the case with The Other Store, which has an old-school deli in Columbia where you can get some of the best sandwiches in South Carolina.
This Columbia old-school deli is tucked away inside The Other Store, located on Bethel Church Road in the Forest Acres neighborhood. It used to be a gas station.
In the back is where you'll find Linda's Little Deli, the hidden gem the locals frequent and college students drive miles to return to years after graduating. It's one of the most humble, unassuming places you could find, so just don't expect anything fancy. And don't be surprised if you feel right at home with the endearing atmosphere.
Customers also rave about the soups, the perfect warm lunch on a cooler winter afternoon. Although, it's so good that some will get it even in the sweltering hot summer!
Now, if you happen to come on the day when chicken bog is the special, you'll get to find out for yourself what all the fuss is about with this delicious local dish!
