And whether you believe in ghosts or not, spending time in the most notoriously haunted building in the state – after midnight – will likely make your hair stand on end, at the least. The Old City Jail in Charleston was in use for 137 years and held the likes of Lavinia Fisher (commonly known as the first female serial killer in the U.S.) and others. What’s more: many people didn’t leave the old jail alive.

Allegedly, 100,000 people died within these walls and some have simply refused to move on.

You'll sleuth around the old jail in the dark (bring flashlights) in search of those left behind when the fortress of a prison was abandoned way back in 1939. Your guide will have a spirit box, EMF meter, and ghost magnet on hand. These are considered traditional tools of the ghost hunting trade. And you'll pass from room to room calling on the spirits of those who died here to step forward.
