An oceanside grill outside of the Grand Strand in South Carolina isn’t as easy to come by as one might think. While the barrier islands south of the Myrtle Beach area all have ample restaurants for locals and visitors alike, only a handful of eateries are located right on the beach. In the small town of Isle of Palms (year-round population: approximately 4,000), one of our faves is located in the row of beachfront shops found just over the IOP connector. It has a stunning view of the ocean to pair with each delicious dinner entrée on the menu.
Coda del Pesce, which translates roughly from Italian to English as 'fish tail,' doles out a contemporary Italian dining experience you're sure to love.
The rustic decor of the main dining room features timber beams high overhead, rough brick walls, and an entire wall comprised solely of floor-to-ceiling windows offering forever views or the Atlantic, which is only steps away.
An after dinner stroll is waiting on the other side of the boardwalk that leads over the dunes to the sandy beach.
From grilled octopus to seared Maine scallops, to mussels, and shrimp, the selections are heavily influenced by the restaurant's proximity to the sea. There is even an antipasta option featuring pink moon oysters.
Whether you opt for a seafood choice or stick with something more traditional, like the Ricotta Gnocchi seen here, you're sure to be as impressed by your flavorful selection as you are with the delightfully casual, yet upscale, atmosphere at Coda del Pesce.
The restaurant also has a famously long Italian wine selection with many hard-to-come-by wines imported straight from Italy and representing the many regions. Of course, the waitstaff is well versed on each and can make an expert recommendation to pair with your dinner selection.
Dining at Coda del Pesce and just can't get enough of the ocean or the gentle ocean breeze?
Ask for a table outside! The semi-covered veranda offers lovely seating that is sheltered by buildings on either side (avoiding crosswind action), yet still has a lovely view of the ocean!
For those times when you're craving delicious food AND a view of the Atlantic in an oceanside grill, head to Coda del Pesce on the Isle of Palms. With an amazing atmosphere, delicious food, and views of the Atlantic, it's a perfect choice for a lovely oceanside dinner.
