Can you remember the first time you heard a train whistle and then saw the big locomotive coming down the tracks? It seems like every kid has a train phase but no one said you had to grow out of it. If you were a train enthusiast you’ll love reliving childhood memories when you take your family for a ride on the Heritage Park Railway in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Simpsonville, located in northwestern South Carolina, is home to Heritage Park. This large park is chock-full of amenities but the most unique is the miniature steam locomotive that runs on tracks around the park.
Visitors can board the train on the south side of the park at the replica train station. Although the train is miniature, it's still comfortable for adult riders.
The train tracks follow the perimeter of the park. Kids will enjoy seeing the park from a new vantage point but it's also enjoyable to watch the train go by while enjoying the playground.
Be sure to keep an eye out for replica historical landmarks along the route. These special additions to the train route make it a realistic experience for riders of all ages.
