Dropping into a roadside swimming hole anywhere in the state can be a lot of fun on a hot summer day, but sometimes you want a little more organization and supervision when you swim, especially with younger kids. This swimming hole in South Carolina has just that: lifeguards on select days from Memorial Day to Labor Day, an organized and clean sandy beach free of litter and such, and a bathhouse with clean restrooms. “Where is this dreamy beach,” you ask?
It's at the base of South Carolina's most visible natural wonder: Table Rock. Seen on the far side of the lake in this photo, the man-made sandy beach on the shore of Pinnacle Lake at Table Rock State Park just may harken you back to your childhood.
Perhaps that's because this park was built nearly a hundred years ago — 87, to be exact — and perhaps you have actually had the pleasure of swimming here before.
For all one knows, maybe you just prefer the simplicity of a more natural setting like Pinnacle Lake because it removes some of the chaos of today's big water parks.
Or could it be, by chance, that you just plainly prefer a wholesome swimming hole like this one over a populated beach on the ocean or a busy water park?
Whatever the reason, you just may find the swim beach at Table Rock is your new favorite spot to take a walk down memory lane while basking in the sun and shade on a warm summer day.
As mentioned, lifeguards are on duty at Pinnacle Lake seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Otherwise, it's swim at your own risk.
Table Rock State Park is open year-round. Check the website to find hours of operations, admission costs, and more about this park itself and this awesome swimming hole in South Carolina.
