South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
When you’re on a road trip, it’s nice to know ahead of time the places where you can stop for a break, clean restrooms, and to stretch your legs. Throughout the state of South Carolina are nine welcome centers and 19 rest areas. Along I-85 in Anderson, you’ll find one of the best rest stops in South Carolina. Take a look at its features and plan to stop off here on your next trip.
The Anderson Northbound Rest Area is located near mile marker 17 past the Georgia-South Carolina border. It's easy to get into and back out of with larger vehicles, including tractor trailers if you're a truck driver.
The restrooms are old but clean and well maintained, which is always so nice to find. In the women's restroom, you'll find a shelf helpful for diaper-changes.
But this – this right here is what makes this rest stop most impressive and a favorite rest area for many travelers. It's located on Lake Hartwell, which is one of the largest recreational lakes in the southeastern United States.
