Just when you think you’ve seen and done it all in South Carolina, a boat tour JUST for crabbing cruises into view. It may be the only one of its kind on the South Carolina coast and, if you’re a visitor or new to the area, then you’ll definitely want to give this a try!
Aboard this unique tour boat, your sole mission is to catch crabs — and lots of them!
Appropriately named, the Crabber J II, departs from the dock with the captain narrating along the way.
Enroute to the snug little spot where you'll anchor for the next little while, you're very likely to pass some dolphins at play, so you'll definitely want to pay attention.
Once you reach the crabbing spot, the real fun begins. Two guides will be on board to help you get the hang of things as you cast your crab line and then wait for supper to come in.
It sure is fun getting that first crab on the line and pulling it all the way into the boat with the net they provide! (Heads up: if it's not the required four-inches from tip to tip, or if it's a female, you'll be required by law to let it go.)
Know what else is fun?? Cooking and EATING them!
The Crabber J II is gearing up for the start of the new season. But the date hasn't been announced as of yet.
Keep a keen eye on their
Facebook page so you'll be among the first to know the season has begun. Crabber J II departs from Dock C at Shelter Cove Harbor (1 Harborside Lane) in Hilton Head.
For another fun day trip in the Palmetto State, head to this gem that’s hiding in plain sight in Columbia.
