This Breathtaking Destination In South Carolina Looks Like It Was Ripped From The Pages Of Harry Potter
As the entrance to Charleston Harbor, Sullivan’s Island is a picture-perfect spot to spend a day or two exploring. This tiny town of fewer than 2,000 people is home to several historic sites, including the Mugdock Castle. When you stumble across it, you’ll swear it was ripped straight from the pages of a Harry Potter book. Let’s check it out.

While the castle is not open for tours, there is a way you can spend a few nights here, which we’ll get to in a moment.

Don't worry, this staircase doesn't move like the ones in the films. The castle was built in 1891 and was originally the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It was built to replace another church that was destroyed in 1863 during the Civil War.

Fun fact: it was named after a Scottish castle that was built in the 14th century that's located just north of Glasgow.

What house would you be sorted into?

Bookings require a minimum 28-day stay, so keep that in mind. If you've ever wanted to experience what life inside of a castle is like, this is your opportunity! It's not every day that you get the opportunity to have an entire castle to yourself.

Everybody will have plenty of space to sprawl out. There are also two courtyards with seating to enjoy the outdoors.

The castle does a wonderful job of blending both old and new, so you'll still have modern conveniences like a full kitchen, wifi, televisions, and more. You'll also have access to bicycles and kayaks so you can explore the island even further.
