South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
There’s just something about sunflowers. They’re big and bright and known as “happy” flowers, perhaps because of their relationship with the sun – another part of nature that is connected with feelings of happiness and well-being. Young sunflowers move along with the sun, following as it shifts from east to west throughout the day. All of those who love summer and soaking in the warmth of the sun surely understand this rhythm, which has been studied and is said to happen to attract more pollinating insects, like bees. There’s a fun summer festival in South Carolina centered around this amazing flower.
