How you do like your wings: hot, mild, smothered in garlic Parmesan sauce, or some other mouthwatering flavor? Most people have a favorite, even if they occasionally go astray to try out a flavor of the month, or some wacky flavor someone they’re eating with has ordered. So what’s your preference?
A while ago we published an article listing 12 places to get the best wings in South Carolina, and your comments were overwhelmingly in favor of the #3 restaurant on our list. So consider this the official “OnlyInYourState.com bump” up to the number one spot for that restaurant, a proverbial Hot Wing Destination: Fat Jack’s in Surfside Beach.
This family restaurant is a favorite among locals, visitors and first-timers — and it's easy to see why.
The menu at Fat Jack's features 32 flavorful sauces including the traditional hot, medium and mild choices. And if you're a real hot wing freak, you can order the Kamakaze sauce, which is super thick and super hot because it's flavored with habanero peppers. (I'll take those, please... )

One thing people seem to agree on the most about the atmosphere at Fat Jack's is that the restaurant is a total 'come as your are,' no-frills kind of place.
Like most hole-in-the-wall joints, it has a lot of character including the mascot outside the entrance and Fat Jack's famously adorned ceiling tiles. You never know what you'll find on the tiles above your table; you could see an advertisement, or a smattering of alcoholic coasters glued in an appealing arrangement up there.
The menu at Fat Jack's is arranged to encourage you to diversify. There is a whole array of wing platters that each include two appetizers. We recommend the jalapeno poppers and the curly-Q fries.
Don't think that just because you're headed to a hole-in-the-wall for some grub that they skimp on their beer selection. Not this place, you'll be happy with the domestic and foreign choices, so drink up, and enjoy!
So the official OnlyInYourState bump is in place for this family eatery; but honestly they earned it long before we published it. Fat Jacks is one of those places that's been a staple in the Myrtle Beach area since the 70s. Have you tried the Best Wings In South Carolina yet?
