If you, or the kiddos in your life, love a good thrill, then this attraction is one you (and they) are sure to love. Whether or not you have a passion for reptiles, this little-known reptile zoo hiding near one of the most charming beaches in the state is day trip material.
Say hello to the Edisto Island Serpentarium, where you're always the guest of honor to hundreds and hundreds of hand-caught reptiles.
That's right, hand-caught reptiles. The two founders of this unique attraction are brothers who spent their youth and adulthood chasing and catching their passion: reptiles. In 1999, they opened the Edisto Island Serpentarium so others could enjoy their collection of, well... it's easier to show you than to tell, so take a look below:
Firstly, no serpentarium would be complete without the most unwelcomed guests in any neighborhood. You'll see them in a (safe for you) natural habitat at this unique zoo.
The reptile zoo does a great job with creating eye-appealing natural habitats that are safe for both the full-time residents — and their guests (you!).
Again, most of these have been hand-caught by the keepers, many of them rescued from near and far neighborhoods. Still others may have been born here at the zoo.
Pair a trip to the beach at Edisto with a stop at this fun family-friendly attraction for the perfect weekend excursion. Edisto Island Serpentarium is located at 1374 SC-174, Edisto Island, SC 29438.
