Depending upon where you live in the Palmetto State, a day at the beach can mean a lengthy drive in traffic you may not want (or have time) to deal with. But most South Carolinians know where to find a local beach that’s no where near the Atlantic Ocean. Amazingly, sandy beaches are found all over the state! Including this one – found outside of Rock Hill and along the shores of Lake Wylie.
Known for its awesome green spaces, Rock Hill has a public beach the locals love. It's at Ebenezer Park.
It's found along the northernmost part of the city on the shore of Lake Wylie. The sandy beach is a perfect spot to spend the day in the sun and water — without having to drive all the way to the Atlantic Ocean to do it.
Parents love this little beach, which is protected by a lifeguard during all swim times.
If fact, it's kind of illegal to swim here when the lifeguard isn't on duty

Another reason parents love the beach at Ebenezer Park is the added safety of the water itself. In comparison with the waves, currents and undertow found along the coast, this beach is much safer for small children.
Of course you still can't take your eyes off of the little ones; however, the lifeguard and less dangerous waters make for a more peaceful day for mom, nonetheless.
Picnic tables (some with shelters for shade) are available as well as restroom facilities. This awesome park really does have it all!... including a campground with 67 camp sites. (Here's the camping reservations link.)
The park itself is open year-round. And the beach is open during lifeguard-protected hours from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Lifeguards are on duty from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during hours the local school kids aren't in school. Concession are available during swim hours. Pets are not allowed within 50 feet of the swim area; however, they are allowed in the park as long as they are kept on a leash.
Why drive all the way to the coast when you can enjoy a perfectly charming and sandy beach located just off Interstate 77 in South Carolina?
