South Carolina has been home for AnneMarie since 2001. Her favorite part of the state is Lake Jocassee. An App State alumna, it's always the mountains; the lake bonus makes it heavenly. When not writing about the state, she may be spending time with family, relaxing by the pool, or out somewhere enjoying nature.
It all started with a simple desire to provide not only the best hand-crafted soda and snacks but also a fun, safe environment where friends and families can come together to relax and have a great time. And that’s how Stop ‘n Pop was born, a great place to go when you’re looking for things to do in Orangeburg.
This neat family-owned and operated gourmet soda shop with fun things to do, too, is located at the former Edisto River Creamery on John C. Calhoun Drive, which is Highway 301.
The main attraction here is the handcrafted gourmet sodas, a concept that first started in Utah and has become a big trend. You have the option to order one of over 70 signature items from the menu, such as Walk on the Beach, a combination of coconut, pineapple, and strawberry with Mountain Dew, Barrel of Monkeys, a mixture of Root Beer or Ginger Ale with butterscotch and vanilla cream, and more.
Or you can create your own soda from flavors including blackberry, blueberry, butterscotch, caramel, cherry, cotton candy, cranberry, grape, grapefruit, green apple, guava, huckleberry, kiwi, passion fruit, pineapple, pomegranate, raspberry, toasted marshmallow, and watermelon. There are also five sugar-free flavors including coconut, mango, peach, strawberry, and vanilla. Water, sparkling water, tea, and lemonade can also be chosen as a base instead of a soda, and there are other things you can mix into your drink as well, including purees, fresh fruits, and creams.

There's also a coffee bar, from which this drink was made. The Affagato features shots of espresso poured over vanilla ice cream resulting in an extra creamy, delicious treat!
An interesting bucket list activity for kids would be to try each of the kids' drinks, of which there are currently just four, including the Superhero, Sunshine and Rainbows, Swamp Water, and Sweet Tooth.
Seasonal offerings are also a delight – what could be better than a Peeps topper at Easter?
This would be a good place for a family night outing or meet-up with friends!
Visit the Stop ‘n Pop website and the Stop ‘n Pop Facebook page for additional details and updates. What would be the flavor you’d choose if you were creating your own gourmet soda and which game would you be most interested in playing while here?
Did you know about the small town in Orangeburg County with the world’s oldest railroad junction? That’s some claim to fame and you should check it out!
