Once upon a time on upper King Street in Charleston, someone saw fit to fill in the gap between two buildings – with another building that seemingly assumed the position of what was once a parking spot. And today, the tiny gap building is home to H.L.B., or Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit. But the biscuits from Callie’s are anything by little. They’re both big in size and big in flavor.
Welcome to Callie's, which just may be the absolute tiniest restaurant in all of South Carolina.
You can just about put your arms up at your sides and touch both walls, the space is so small. Yet it somehow manages to have a handful of seats along the wall!
Of course, a delicious, hearty biscuit is perfect any time of day. You'll find a wide variety of options on the menu ranging from plain to bacon, egg, and pimento cheese and oh-so many more.
If you're rolling in here closer to lunch time, Callie's has you covered, too! Try the fried chicken biscuit with sriracha mayo, and house-made pickles. Don't forget to order a southern sweet tea to go with!
At Callie's, you can also get a piping hot buttermilk biscuit grits bowl with cheese. Top it with avocado, crispy chopped bacon, roasted tomatoes, or a number of other choices, too. Mmm... it's so good!
Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit’s King Street location is open six days a week (closed on Tuesday). The hours are Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesday through Friday and Monday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn more from the official website for Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit!
