You have tons of choices when it comes to sandwich shops in South Carolina, but sometimes you’re looking for something a little more unique than a basic ham-and-cheese hoagie. There’s a quirky little deli in Charleston that pairs old classics with fresh, creative ingredients, and you’ll never forgive yourself if you don’t try it.
Brown Dog Deli is an eclectic little sandwich shop that offers a unique spin on many of your favorite classics. You'll find it at 40 Broad St., Charleston, SC 29401.
The menu board is full of interesting sandwiches, salads, soups, and hot dogs. Though this little deli is often busy, the service is fast and friendly.
Many of the menu items are creative twists on old favorites, such as this pimiento cheese BLT that gives a little kick to the classic. Get it with fried green tomato, too.
The Big Mac is a house favorite, with mac n cheese, beer-braised short ribs, bacon jam, veal gravy, BBQ sauce, and smoked bourbon-onion aioli, all piled high on a hoagie roll.
You'll find several salads to tempt your taste buds, including the chipotle chicken cobb (pictured here), Asian ahi tuna, Greek souvlaki chicken, and more.
Chef Wes Denney even puts a spin on the all-American hot dog, dressing his creations up with unique ingredients. There are nearly a dozen different dogs to choose from.
