Feel like visiting Great Britain, but don’t want to have to pay for the airfare? Visit this quaint little pub in Columbia, where you can dine on traditional English foods and enjoy a jolly good atmosphere – without worrying about the exchange rate.
Get a taste of Great Britain when you visit The British Bulldog Pub. It's located at 1220 Bower Pkwy., Columbia, SC 29212.
Though the outside looks like a typical South Carolina restaurant, once you step inside this place, you'll be transported right to Great Britain.
The pub is cozy, friendly, and full of British Pride.
The owners are originally from Liverpool, and they take their football team (that's soccer to us Yanks) very seriously.
Most of the menu items are the kinds of dishes you'll find across the pond, like these homemade sausage rolls.
Start your meal with a Scotch egg appetizer. It's a hard-boiled egg that's covered with ground sausage, then fried to a deep, golden brown. Served with grilled apple, fried onion straws and spicy mustard, this is a traditional British favorite.
The hand-battered haddock fish and chips are the specialty here, and they're absolutely divine.
Bangers and Mash is another traditional British dish, and you're sure to love it! British banger sausages are grilled to perfection, then served atop mashed potatoes and covered in homemade gravy.
Make sure to save room for the traditional Bulldog Bread and Butter Pudding for dessert. This homemade bread pudding, served with ice cream and drizzled with warm praline sauce is so rich and decadent that you'll want to share.
The pub has a great selection of single malt and blended Scotch and Irish whiskey...
...and it's no surprise that the pub offers a large range of domestic and imported beers on tap.
Live music makes the atmosphere even more lively, with local musicians playing every kind of music, from traditional Scottish tunes to bluegrass.
Stop by The British Bulldog Pub seven days a week. It's open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m..
Does the British Bulldog Pub look like your cup of tea? Tag someone that you’d like to bring along!
