Some truly down home, wholesome food can be found on the back roads of South Carolina. Big cities in the Palmetto State may have more restaurant offerings but in a small town, the flavorful experience extends well beyond the food on your plate.
Such is the case in the tiny town of Patrick, South Carolina.
Found in the Sand Hills State Forest halfway between McBee and Cheraw, the town got its start as a railroad town and still proudly preserves the historic train station (pictured here).
Home to approximately 350 people, Patrick hosts an annual Pine Straw Festival each spring to celebrate the many long leaf pines that line the landscape.
It's also home to one restaurant: Bills Grill Cafe. And a visit here is as rewarding as getting out of the city for a drive over to the tiny town of Patrick itself.
But you'll want to check out the daily specials before you make a decision.
Daily specials like lasagna, meatloaf, or fried pork chops are excellent and are always reasonably priced. The pork chops here were a recent daily special and cost a mere $8 for this heaping plate of deliciousness.
Bill's gets excellent reviews and currently has 4.4 stars from Google users who LOVE Bill's.
Bill’s Grill Cafe is open seven days a week. It opens at 11 a.m. Call ahead for closing time: (843) 498-6134. And give it a follow on Facebook to see the daily specials to tantalize your taste buds!
