For years, agri-tourism has flourished in the Palmetto State as farmers work hard to build creative ways for people to enjoy a good ole’ day out on the farm. From autumn festivals and corn mazes, to a bee farm that has a petting zoo, we thought we’d just about seen it all. But leave it to the creative craft brewing crowd to find yet another awesome way to enjoy spending time on someone else’s farm…
The folks at Benford Brewing Co near Lancaster, have taken agri-tourism to the next level, creating a farm brewery that's extraordinary.
Owner Bryan O'Neal evolved from his first home brew kit 17 years ago, to building his hobby into a dream job and career. As the years muddled on, his love for small batch brewing on a personal level eventually grew into something much bigger.
And today, O'Neal's dream has become an amazing reality on a small farm near Lancaster, where you can enjoy the spoils of his labor while relaxing in the laid-back atmosphere of the farm.
Tours are free and are usually conducted on Saturdays when the farm brewery is open to the public. (You should call ahead to make sure the crew isn't out at a special event to promote the beers! The number is below.)
In the meantime, Benford beers are sold in a variety of outlets throughout North and South Carolina. Add this one to your must-have list of craft sensations, and then start planning your farm brewery visit soon!
