Boating, swimming, camping, fishing and just plain living surround this 7,500 acre 300-foot deep reservoir in the Upstate of South Carolina. Famously, Duke Energy flooded this area in 1973 to create this man-made phenomenal resource called Lake Jocassee.

South Carolina has some fabulous city parks. This is one of my faves. Falls Park is the cornerstone of the landscape in downtown Greenville, SC. Its most unique feature is the cable-supported pedestrian suspension bridge. The 355-foot span wraps around the Reedy River and gives up-close breathtaking views of the huge waterfall beneath.

Middleton Place outside Charleston, SC is home to America's oldest landscaped gardens.

The "washout" at Folly Beach is a popular place for surfing all year round.

Historic forts are representative of South Carolina's military past. A tribute to scenes that totally define South Carolina wouldn't be complete without a photo of Fort Sumter. The first shots of the Civil War were fired upon this very spot on April 12, 1861.

Among visitors to South Carolina from the more northern states there's a very real fascination with the veils of Spanish moss that wave in the breeze.
