If there’s one lesson everyone (hopefully) learns in life, it’s that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Generally speaking, ‘hole in the wall,’ is an endearing term for a place we love and would recommend. In the Palmetto State, we have a multitude of small businesses that aren’t housed in the prettiest of venues and the following restaurant is one of them. Having breakfast or lunch at the Barnwood Grill in Anderson is a delight the locals cherish.
The breakfast menu alone has 10 different breakfast sandwiches, several different plated items, omelets, and wraps. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Whatever you order, the food is always home cooked and made to order.
This is no fast food restaurant. The lunch menu has 13 different burgers alone, and many more choices, too. In 2019, Garden and Gun magazine voted Barnwood's burgers the Second Best Burger in the South.
There aren't many places to sit, but the locals know if you arrive early enough for breakfast, then seating isn't an issue. And for those times when it is, just head out the front door and turn left to dine in the outdoor dining room (now fully enclosed) called the Chicken Coop. It's not fancy, but would you expect it to be?
When you're finished admiring the delicious flavors found at Barnwood Grill, be sure to pop next door to Whitehall Market. This one-of-a-kind market is like a sister to Barnwood Grill - and it shows.
