Every year during an October weekend, barbecue competitors from across the country and world converge in Lynchburg, Tennessee to wield their grilling and smoking expertise in a final competition for the year. Perfectly positioned just off I-26, Smokin' Gringo's is a great roadside stop when traveling through South Carolina. It's also directly across the road from a gas station, so you can also fill up while getting a bite to eat, all in one convenient stop!

This is a unique, fun spot, with shipping containers that have been painted bright colors and converted into restaurant space. "Gringo" is the name the owner, Mike Bastin, acquired while he was living in Mexico and cooking out of a garbage can smoker he made. The "Gringo Cartel" travels all around the southeast competing for new titles, catering events, and serving some of the best food you've ever tasted.

Mike's daughters, known as "the Gringoettes," also enjoy cooking at competitions and have started competing in the kids’ competitions. They are the 2017 and 2018 Kids Que State Champions. With over 250 awards in all, the barbecue you'll find here is the real deal.
