If you’ve ever strolled the streets of this city in South Carolina, then you’ve undoubtedly wished you knew where the hidden courtyards are. The secluded little courtyards are part of the charm of the historic district in Charleston. Finding one is like uncovering history, or delving into a secret society of yesteryear.
While many of those secret courtyards belong to private residences, anyone can enter the lush courtyard below. You just have to know where to find it.
And that's where we come in. This lavish setting is located at the end of this long narrow entrance to a long-standing restaurant in Charleston called 82 Queen.
Founded in 1982 in Charleston's French Quarter, the eatery was named after the street address when the owners couldn't agree on a name. Now, 82 Queen is one of the longest-running restaurants in the Holy City. Its secret courtyard, hidden deep behind the street facade, is packed with historic charm.
82 Queen does have significant indoor seating as well... which is much appreciated during the summer months. Over the decades, the restaurant has grown to encompass three buildings with 11 seating areas.
Have you discovered the courtyard at 82 Queen yet? They're open for lunch, dinner and brunch. Make reservations here, or call (843)723-7591 for personal assistance.
While you’re in Charleston, head out to Johns Island to explore the area’s most famous natural wonder: the Angel Oak.
