Gwen is an author, artist, illustrator, graphic designer, mother, wife, and part-time super hero. She loves to tackle her dreams head on and takes life by storm. Coffee is her best friend and a good book cannot be beat! When does she have the time, you ask? Well...do you really need that much sleep?
So, you’re thinking of getting married, but first you have to think of how to ask her. Do you want to do it with the help of family and friends in a flash mob or do you want to do it in a quiet place that is as beautiful as she is, with just the two of you? It can become quite nerve-racking no matter which direction you choose. However, that’s where I might be able to help. I have composed a list of the best places in South Carolina for that epic marriage proposal. Whether want the quiet with just the two of you or the best place to hold a grand flash mob…it’s all right here!
1. Jumping Off Rock at Lake Jocassee is such a romantic place to ask for her hand in marriage. You can see the Jocassee gorges for miles, but you will have to plan carefully here. The road up there is only open 2 months out of the year.
2. Table Rock State Park is another memorable place in the Upstate. There's no place here where you could go wrong. There are waterfalls, bridges, and beautiful lookouts where you can see the world spread out below you.
3. Hunting Island Light and Harbour Town Lighthouse are both epic locations. These are the only two lighthouses in South Carolina that allow you to go all the way to the top! What better way to propose than when the world is at your feet?
4. At the top of the Myrtle Beach Skywheel. Okay, it may sound a bit cliche to some people, but you know that it can be a pretty epic proposal place. You are both up there all alone, the bright lights burst through the darkness from below...you ask for her hand...
5. Swan Lake-Iris Gardens in Sumter are bursting with locations for that special proposal. During those spring and early summer months you are surrounded by beautiful irises. They can make for a perfect backdrop.
6. Looking for something old-fashioned? Something with a lot of Southern Charm? I would take her to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. There are so many spots that could work to fulfill that dream proposal.
8. Still loving that beach/island feeling? Seabrook is a lovely location to drop to one knee, especially if the sun is going down and that warm southern glow surrounds you both.
12. White Point Gardens on the battery of Charleston. There is the gazebo, large oaks, soothing breezes...what more could you ask for? I bet she will say "yes"!
13. Wanting to have a little background noise? A nightlife of sounds, smells, and sights? You can choose the Boardwalk at Myrtle Beach. It will fulfill that adrenaline flavor you are wanting.
14. Okay...here's something that may be a little "out there", but it needs to be said. You could arrange a helicopter flight over the city of your choice and ask her in the air as she is stunned by the beauty of the night or you could finish off the helicopter flight with an amazing dinner and ask her then. Either way...I can't imagine it turning out wrong.
15. Still thinking up in the air...how about a hot air balloon ride? She will be blown away by your creativity and there are a lot of places to in South Carolina that provide this service.
Now that I have given you a few ideas, do you feel a little better about that proposal? South Carolina has some epic spots to use to propose to your special one! And…speaking of flash mobs. Wow. They might take a little planning, but they are extremely cool!
