A leisurely drive is meant to relax us, but let’s face it. Sometimes driving, especially in Rhode Island, can be downright stressful. Drivers often weave in and out of lanes, fail to turn on their turn signals, and just don’t follow the rules of the road. It should come as little surprise then that Rhode Island found its way onto the list of the worst drivers in the nation for 2022, as shown in a study by QuoteWizard.
Rhode Island made it onto the list of the worst drivers in the nation, coming in at number 10 in 2022, a study by QuoteWizard shows.
The worst drivers in the United States are in Utah, followed by California, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio. North Dakota, Virginia, Arizona, Hawaii, and Rhode Island round out the top 10.
To compile its list, QuoteWizard studied data from more than 10 million insurance quotes from all 50 states to determine where each state ranks in terms of the best and worst drivers in the United States.
Several factors played into Rhode Island’s appearance in the top 10. It scored number one in the number of accidents, followed by Massachusetts and California.
On the flip side, Rhode Island’s next door neighbor, Connecticut, snagged the honor of having the best drivers in the United States. Three other New England states made the best drivers list.
Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Arkansas, Kentucky, New Hampshire, and Maine also made the top 10.
Connecticut drivers also had the fewest citations and DUIs while taking the second spot for the fewest speeding tickets. Massachusetts grabbed the top spot.
Do you agree that some of the worst drivers in the nation are right here in Rhode Island? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments! When you’re up for a bit of an adventure, climb behind the wheel and set off on one of Rhode Island’s backroads.
