There’s dining in a restaurant that has a beautiful atmosphere…and then there’s dining in a restaurant that’s just steps away from a waterfall. This cafe in the tiny town of Harrisville is right across the street from the town’s waterfall, and you’re going to want to stop by for a meal soon.
Welcome to Waterfall Cafe! This charming restaurant serves up delicious meals in a cozy setting, and it's just steps from a beautiful waterfall.
Address: 35 East Avenue, Harrisville, RI, 02830
Owner Synthia Cardinale opened Waterfall Cafe in 2011, and it's been a favorite with both locals and visitors to Harrisville ever since. The dining room is cozy, and the wait staff is friendly.
The restaurant serves breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and offers everything from savory omelettes to fluffy pancakes. A meal at the cafe and a stroll to the waterfall is the perfect way to kick off your weekend.
If you'd rather sleep in a bit, stop by for a weekend lunch. You'll find a tasty array of salads, soup, and sandwiches, all made with fresh ingredients.
The cafe is open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner, and you're definitely going to want to start with an order of Portugese stuffies. These scrumptious little morsels are the house specialty.
The dinner menu features seafood, pasta, steaks, and more. Try a plate of pasta...
...or dig into the farmhouse chicken. The fried chicken breast is served with creamy mashed potatoes and smothered in a rich, bacon white gravy. It's the ultimate comfort food!
Harrisville Falls is located right across the street from the cafe.
The falls tumble over Mill Pond for 30 feet in a stunning display. The dam that created Mill Pond was built in 1857, and the spillway for the waterfall consists of huge stone blocks that span 150 feet across the river.
Depending on the time of year, you might see a massive cascade that completely obscures the stone blocks, or a smaller curtain of water that splashes and sprays over them.
Either way, you'll want to spend some time gazing at it, either before or after your meal at the cafe.
Waterfall Cafe is closed on Monday and Tuesday. It's open for dinner Wednesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m, and for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 a.m.
