Aquidneck Land Trust’s Sakonnet Greenway Trail connects through Newport Vineyards, so you can take a gorgeous hike or enjoy some birdwatching, then enjoy an enchanting local vineyard.

Their goal was to create a natural greenway across the island by permanently conserving land. Currently, they have saved 2,580 acres or more than 10.5% of Aquidneck Island.

The captivating Sakonnet Greenway Trail is the longest continuous trail on Aquidneck Island. It is 10 miles long and loaded with wildlife, woodlands, meadows, and of course, a vineyard.
You can do the full 10 miles, or choose from several different loops. Enter the trail at Linden Lane in Portsmouth, and Brahmans Lane or East Main Road in Portsmouth.
Combine your passion for wine and your passion for the great outdoors. The Aquidneck Land Trust Sakonnet Greenway Trail is accessible year round. Public tours of Newport Vineyard are $15 and include a tasting, souvenir glass, and tour.
