We definitely love our pastries and sweet treats here in Rhode Island. For a small state, we have a large number of bakeries, each with their own signature style. And you certainly won’t find anything quite like Village Hearth Bakery anywhere else in New England. This European-style bakery is one-of-a-kind.

And since its 2001 opening, it has been a beloved local treasure.
When Village Hearth first opened, it served as a small artisan bread bakery with a takeout-only retail store.

But business continued to boom, and in 2009, owners Doriana and Andrea renovated their former house into a cafe to accommodate more customers.
There's a lot to love about this charming place, but the most impressive part is the wood-fired oven that was built brick by brick.

The whole grains are grown onsite. The the dough is shaped and baked in the wood-fired oven, which results in the tastiest bread and pastries.
Not only does this bakery serve the most delicious food (not to mention the addictive coffee and tea), it also happens to be a great gathering spot.

And while current conditions do limit our in-person gatherings, the idea of coming together around one of these tables gives us something to look forward to.
Village Hearth Bakery has limited hours in the fall and winter, so you'll want to pre-order your treats as soon as the craving strikes.

Throughout the winter, they will only be open on Sundays from 8 a.m. - noon and from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for pizza.
