Rhode Island is full of history and much of our past is carried along in the historic buildings in our towns and cities. While we all probably agree that not every landmark spot needs to be turned into a museum, it’s nice to see when a notable building gets a new lease on life. So the next time you’re in the mood for a cold brew and a great meal, head to this train station turned brewery where the depot has been transformed into a pub unlike any other.
Union Station Brewery is a treasure in the downtown area of Providence. What was once a bustling train station has been transformed into a brewery and pub for the perfect change of pace.
Unlike many repurposed spaces, the brewpub has retained the architecture and appeal of the historic depot. No longer a place where travelers hurry to get through, Union Station Brewery wants you to relax and stay awhile.
Each week a new craft beer is featured while other award-winners stick around much longer. While many breweries feature just beer and light snacks, this spot has a complete menu of mouthwatering pub fare making it a fantastic choice for a leisurely lunch or dinner out in the city.
Discover all kinds of wonderful snacky dishes on the menu but our favorite by far is the pub kettle chips. All of the ingredients of a loaded baked potato are just poured over housemade chips in a cheesy, bacony plate of goodness.
The pub menu also features a selection of juicy burgers and first-class sandwiches to satisfy hungrier diners. From lighter fare to heartier meals, the pub food is uncommonly good.
This isn't a station that you hurry through. Stop in and stay for the amazing beer and food. Union Station Brewery is open from 11:30 a.m. - 1 a.m. Sunday - Thursday and 11:30 a.m. - 2 a.m. Friday - Saturday.
