A weekend road trip in Rhode Island can mean so many things. We can visit the beautiful lighthouses in Rhode Island or go to some of the breathtaking Rhode Island waterfalls. With all of Rhode Island’s natural wonders (and mademade ones, too!), we’re never at a loss for where to go. Reconnect with nature, for example, on this three-day road trip that will take you to three state parks.
Our first day brings us to Colt State Park. A beloved Rhode Island gem, Colt State Park is cozy with 464 acres. However, that relatively small space boasts plenty to do, including hiking its trails, walking or biking along paved paths, and boating. If you're visiting after a snowfall, bring your skis for a bit of cross-country skiing. Get a peek at all that Colt State Park has to offer in our previous article.
Since Colt State Park is open during the day only, you might want to book a stay at one of the hotels or B&Bs in Bristol.
Bring your camping gear along for our next stop, Burlingame State Park in Charlestown. home to a beautiful campground that features cabins and tent camping. Or park your RV. Spend your day lounging on the beach or cooling off in the water, or go kayaking or canoeing. The park also features picturesque hiking trails. Read all about the huge Burlingame State Park campground in our previous article.
Our three-day Rhode Island road trip ends at Lincoln Woods State Park, another gem that offers a little bit of everything - from horseback riding to kayaking. Summertime is the perfect time to visit the beach and wade in the water while hiking and jogging are popular in every season. Discover why Lincoln Woods State Park in Rhode Island truly has it all in our previous article.
